GRI’s GREEN X Circle connects ecosystems of rubber and agricultural farmers globally
June 2, 2022
Sustainability has always been a priority for GRI, a global leader in natural rubber tire manufacturing based in Sri Lanka. As such, the GREEN X Circle, which is GRI’s hallmark sustainability program, focuses both on the future of business and on elevating the livelihoods of future generations. It is an ecosystem that is aimed at enhancing sustainable farming practices to benefit farming communities worldwide.
GRI's GREEN X Circle is a commitment to our planet, farmers across the world, the environment, the communities we serve and are a part of, and of course, our climate. It is a continuous circle of sustainability that inspires greatness. The GREEN X Circle initiative was launched in 2019 at Agritechnica in Germany, and a series of events have been held since then. While the GREEN X Circle is about fostering a global farming ecosystem, the program was initiated in Sri Lanka as a first step.

GRI’s GREEN X Circle focusses on,
- Creating a global farmer ecosystem and connecting natural rubber farmers in Sri Lanka, whose product is used to build GRI agriculture tires, with crop farmers around the world, who use these tires to produce food and sustain their livelihoods.
- Sustainability as a mechanism to inspire greatness among farming communities, by appreciating their hard work as well as bringing them together to share farming lessons, challenges, and celebrations.
- Nurturing role models from both farming communities to enable valuable and sustainable uses of resources, increasing yields and recognizing the climate challenges that future generations will face.
- Building the capacity of natural rubber farming families by providing them technical tools, training, products, and services.
- Enhancing rubber farmer and crop farmer bases through loyalty programs, which will strengthen the ecosystem and build global networks.
“There are five parties that are required to take the GREEN X Circle program forward; that is the natural rubber farmer, GRI, our distributors worldwide, the dealers of our distributors and the crop farmer who produces food”, said Dr. Mahesha Ranasoma, CEO, GRI. "GRI supplies Sri Lankan-made tires using Sri Lankan natural rubber to the international market. Thus, the rubber farmers in Sri Lanka, the crop farmers here and abroad are connected through the products that we manufacture. We can take this forward as a unique initiative which is one of a kind in the world, which will instill great pride in our country", he further added.

GRI supplies its high-grade agricultural tires to the crop farmers across the world, which in turn increases the productivity and efficiency of the agricultural machinery of the crop farmers. Thus, the connection between the rubber farmer and the crop farmer is mutually beneficial, where GRI manufactures specialty tires using natural rubber sourced from a farmer who has produced rubber using sustainable practices and the crop farmer who produces a greater yield by using GRI tires. In this manner, the GRI GREEN X Circle is completed.

GRI’s GREEN X Circle is an everlasting circle of cohesive collaboration that sustains the balance on how everything moves forward, and this takes precedence in all of GRI’s activities; not just in its products, but in philosophy too.
